Pharrell Williams and G-Star RAW made their partnership official after a two-year courtship. The “new duo” announced that the award-winning singer and producer is now the co-owner, and will use his creative technique and business savvy to work on future collections, advertising and strategy.
Williams partnered with the mega denim company in 2014 on the RAW For The Oceans collection, a denim line made from recycled plastic produced by another Williams venture called Bionic Yarn. The sustainable textile has been successful enough to previously partner with the Cole Hahn, Timberland, and Gap. Williams will continue to work on RAW for the Oceans.
The Neptunes producer, known for his cutting edge style, previously collaborated with Adidas, Moncler, Louis Vuitton, and Commes de Garçons, among others. And in 2015, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) gave him its Fashion Icon award.
Just a few weeks ago, he also bought back a controlling stake in Billionaire Boys Club, the street wear line he started in 2005 with A Bathing Ape founder Nigo.
